For early devices, the model number is located in very small print on the back of your device. It will begin with the letter A followed by 4 numbers. You can then enter your model number into your browser search bar to find the name and version of your device.
For newer devices, your model number may not be located on the back of the device. You will need to find the model number information in your device settings.
iPhone and iPad
- Go to Settings
- Go to General
- Go to About
- Scroll to Model field (right below Carrier). You should see the part number that begins with "M."
- Tap the Model field. You should see the field update to show a five-digit number that begins with "A." This is your model number.
Apple Watch
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab, then tap General About.
- Find the Model field. You should see the part number that begins with "M."
- Tap the Model field. You should see the field update to show a five-digit number that begins with "A." This is your model number.
MacBook
1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your display screen.
2. Click About this Mac.
3. The name and version of your MacBook will be shown right below the macOS information.
