Why does the leather feel different from the brown BookBook?

Last Updated: Sep 20, 2017 12:07AM EDT

In order to give the Rutledge BookBooks their unique look, we start with goat leather, then mulitple layers of dye are applied and hand-rubbed, and finally the leather is compressed, giving it a thinner, harder feel and a shinier look, which also makes it more resistant to scratching and staining.

The brown BookBooks are made with cow leather that is oil tanned, which leaves the leather softer and thicker feeling.

These are not indicative of a different quality of leather or durability, but rather a different type of leather and leather processing, and do not constitute a manufacturing defect.
