How do I determine specifically which MacBook I have?

Last Updated: Oct 27, 2017 02:07PM EDT

To determine the specific version of your MacBook:

- Turn your MacBook on.
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.
- Click on "About This Mac".
- Depending on which OS X you're using, the box that pops up may tell you the specifics of your MacBook, or you may need to click on "More Info..."

Alternately, you can measure the outside dimensions of your MacBook, then compare them with the measurements below:

MacBook Air (11")                                    11.80 x 7.56 x 0.68 inches (29.97 x 19.20 x 17.3 cm)
MacBook Air (13")                                    12.80 x 8.94 x 0.68 inches (32.51 x 22.71 x 1.73 cm)
MacBook Pro (non-Retina, 13")               12.78 x 8.94 x 0.95 inches (32.46 x 22.71 x 2.41 cm)
MacBook Pro Retina (13")                       12.35 x 8.62 x 0.71 inches (31.37 x 21.90 x 1.80 cm)
MacBook Pro Retina (15")                       14.13 x 9.73 x 0.71 inches (35.89 x 24.71 x 1.80 cm)
MacBook (12-inch)                                   11.04 x 7.74 x 0.52 inches (28.04 x 19.66 x 1.32 cm)
late-2016 MacBook Pro (13")                   11.97 x 8.36 x 0.59 inches (30.41 x 21.24 x 1.49 cm)
late-2016 MacBook Pro (15")                   13.75 x 9.48 x 0.61 inches (34.93 x 24.07 x 1.55 cm)
